Recessionista Royally Ruched - UsMagazine.com

A snappy clutch or great looking tote and you’re ready to go.

Joyrides

I love these Nine West boots, and so will most women. Here at Us, every time we bring Nine West shoes on a fashion photo shoot, a lot of our celebrity/real-life models are so relieved that we don’t squeeze them into vertigo-inducing Louboutins or narrow Chanel pumps. They can also run straight to from the shoot and get these because Nine West is so accessible.

These ankle boots are very regal and I really like the ruching detail and the 4″ heel, which is high, but somehow they design them so you can walk  and the price of $119 is perfect!

PRODUCT DETAILS

Sized 5-12 and in three widths Narrow, Medium and Wide.

Light brown suede so not everything in your wardrobe is black and studded.

$119.00

Wear with a plaid button front shirt and a pair of skinny jeans.

Be Chic in Camel! - UsMagazine.com

Camel is the new black. And this camel cape is a great classic with a twist. We love this must-have fall silhouette. It goes with everything - you can mix in grey, black, red, or really any color. Jennifer Garner shows how tossing it on over any outfit instantly adds the glam factor.

Zara is leading the pack in terms of posh-looking staples at a great price. This cloth cape is $169. Wear it with a knit and a flippy skirt. Grab some long leather gloves and a great pair of over-the-knee boots and you have yourself a polished, put-together look.

A Manolo Moment

Footwear designer Manolo Blahnik has been in the business since the early seventies. Over the decades, there have been ups and downs, of course, but through it all, the man and the brand have achieved the status of a modern classic. The return of the pointy-toed pump for Fall has arbiters—Footwear News among them —calling it a Manolo moment. Blahnik himself demurs. “I have never had a perception about whether it’s my time or someone else’s time,” he told the paper. “I don’t think I have a time.”

If a Manolo is forever, though, that doesn’t mean now isn’t a very good time to indulge. The Blahnik classics look fresh once again, and Style.com’s senior market editor, Marina Larroude, highlighted many of them in her Fall 2011 Accessories Index. For fall, there are concessions to trends in the form of plaids, leopard prints, and the season’s must-have fur-trimmed sandal, but our favorite is the ankle-strap pointy pump, a ladylike standard that’s hallmark Blahnik. Dare we say it? Timeless.

Prism Break

In April, Prism eyewear designer Anna Laub added swimwear to her repertoire. After a summer of living in her bathing suit, the self-confessed beach girl’s cool, relaxed vibe has carried over to her upcoming Spring 2012 collection. “It’s minimal, laid-back, and sexy, with some punchy attitude,” says Laub of the new line. Credit for that punch goes to Uschi Obermaier, the 1970’s German model who had a fling with Keith Richards. “I found lots of great images from the seventies of Uschi Obermaier that had this mood.” Of the colors—burgundy, antique gold, and burnt orange, Laub explains, “I was inspired by Guy Bourdin and the sketches of Egon Schiele.” We expect the dark green one-piece will fly off the shelves at Opening Ceremony. On that note: Laub has created limited-edition Prism espadrilles for the shop’s FNO fiesta. As for her nerdy-chic eyewear, expect to see her trendsetting clients, Alexa Chung included, sporting the zebra-horn Antwerp frame sometime soon.

Call His Name Alejandro

Photo: Courtesy of Alejandro Ingelmo

“It’s my first real presentation, outside of my showroom, so I wanted to keep it really simple and precise,” shoe designer and fourth-generation cobbler Alejandro Ingelmo said at his Milk Studios presentation. “For me, less is more.” Not necessarily what you’d expect to hear from someone whose client roster includes Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Britney Spears. (For those maximalists, at least, he obliged with the occasional Swarovski Elements-crystal embellishment.)

Nor was Ingelmo’s simple really all that simple. He showed towering leather platform sandals and sharply angled ankle boots in black, nude, silver, and gold—not exactly hop-on-the-subway fare. But he’s conscious of comfort; he’s a runner himself and often spotted in New Balances when he’s not wearing his own leather high-tops—so he’s done thick-strap flat sandals, too.

You’ll have to wait for spring to snatch up the new version of his best-selling Thriller, a gravity-defying platform that’s a blend of sexy straps and futuristic metallic leather. If you need to get your Ingelmo fix now, you can check out the Helmut Lang and Chris Benz Spring shows, both of which feature AI collabs. Or you can just head down to his recently opened boutique on Wooster in Soho.
